FDNY Eng 267 at BCVFD in 1934
FDNY used to send Engine #267 from Rockaway over to the BCVFD's firehouse on weekends in the summer to help protect the island. There was so much vehicle and pedestrian traffic on Cross Bay Blvd in those days that it could take a firetruck hours to get here if necessary. The North and South Channel Bridges were also draw bridges then to allow passing ships. This also put an extreme hinderence on emergency response to the Broad Channel Island. Thus, explaining why the BCVFD remained in service and does so still to this very day. FDNY sent this engine over from the 1920's up until the late 1960's.
